Loi Krathong is a festival of Siamese people that are celebrated every year throughout the Kingdom of Thailand and in neighboring countries that have important southwestern Thai culture (Laos, Shan, Mon, Tha Gossum, Kelantan, Keda. This name can be translated as "floating basket" and comes from the tradition of making floating or floating baskets decorated in the river.
Loi Krathong occurs on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the Thai lunar calendar, so the exact date of the festival changes every year. In the Western calendar, it usually falls in November. In Chiang Mai, the festival lasts three days and in 2018, the date is 21 - 23 November.
In Thailand, this festival is known as "Loi Krathong". Outside of Thailand, this festival is celebrated under different names, including Myanmar as the "Tazaungdaing" festival. Sri Lanka as "Il Full Moon Poya" and Cambodia is "Bon. Om Touk"
